Meet Pastor Chavis
Pastor David Chavis
Welcome to Friendship! I’m Pastor Chavis, and I believe God has a purpose for your life and a place for you here.
Pastor David X. Chavis serves as the Senior Pastor of First Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia, where he is committed to leading with vision, integrity, and a heart for people.
A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Pastor Chavis answered the call to preach the Gospel and delivered his first sermon on September 19, 2010, at Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia. He later served there faithfully as an Associate Minister for five years.
Pastor Chavis is a 7-year veteran of the United States Army, where he specialized in logistics, up-armored military vehicles, and petroleum operations. His service took him across the United States and overseas, including Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait. He was honorably discharged in 2013.
He is a graduate of Columbia College University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, and is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity at Regent University.
In addition to his pastoral leadership, Pastor Chavis also serves as a Senior Operations Manager in the logistics field, bringing a spirit of excellence, discipline, and servant leadership into both the marketplace and ministry.
Pastor Chavis is passionate about helping people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and discover purpose for their everyday lives. His leadership is centered on building strong faith, developing people, and creating a welcoming church culture where everyone can grow.
He is a part of New Vision Worldwide Fellowship of Churches International, under the leadership of Apostle Larry B. Aiken. He is married to his wife, Rasheema Chavis, and together they have four children: A’lice, Aubre, Malachi, and Isaiah. Pastor Chavis believes that ministry extends beyond the pulpit, it is lived out daily through leadership, service, and a commitment to excellence.
